Помимо мексиканских плантаций в перечень мирового наследия включены еще 19 объектов. В их числе оказались заброшенный город Сьюэлл, построенный рядом с крупнейшим в мире медным рудником Эль Теньенте (Чили), дворцы Ролли в Генуе, район Бехистуна в Иране, где находится одна из самых больших клинописных надписей, Зал столетия в польском Вроцлаве, построенный архитектором Максом Бергом, Бискайский мост в испанском Бильбао.

Особое внимание ЮНЕСКО уделила Африке. Сразу пять природно-культурных объектов вошли в перечень мирового наследия: эфиопский город Харар, каменные круги Сенегамбии, районы наскальной живописи Чонгони (Малави) и Кондоа (Танзания), район Ааправаси Гат в столице Маврикия Порт-Луи.
