Льюис был "задержан" в феврале этого года за агрессивное поведение и нападения на людей и с тех пор уже находился под строгим домашним арестом. В Фейрфилде многие жители панически боятся этого рыжего кота, который придумывал десятки уловок, чтобы перехитрить "умную добычу" - людей.

В марте 2006 года офицер Управления контроля над животными Рэйчел Солвейра обязала хозяйку держать Льюиса под "домашним арестом". Сама владелица безуспешно пыталась лечить кота антидепрессантами.


Если коту все же удастся выбраться за пределы жилища, его хозяйке придется сесть в тюрьму на 6 месяцев, а животное будет передано на "добровольную эвтаназию". "Не может быть никаких исключений, никаких: кот вообще не может выходить на улицу", - постановил в среду окружной судья Пэтрик Кэролл.
